This year marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, and it is a time to honor and recognize the brave men and women who served in the conflict. It is also a time to recognize the contributions of Vietnam War veterans to our nation and to the business community.

One organization that is doing just that is the National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC), the source on veteran owned businesses whose founder and CEO, Keith King, is a Vietnam War veteran. The NVBDC is dedicated to helping service disabled and veteran-owned businesses succeed in the marketplace by providing resources, education, and advocacy.
NVBDC was founded in 2013 with the mission of creating an environment that supports the success of service disabled and veteran-owned businesses. The organization works to ensure that service disabled and veteran-owned businesses have access to the same resources and opportunities as other businesses. Through its certification program, the NVBDC helps veteran-owned businesses gain access to procurement opportunities in a $96 billion supplier diversity marketplace, and also offers additional resources to help veteran-owned businesses grow and thrive. These programs include webinars on topics such as marketing, supplier diversity, finance, and business development. Additionally, NVBDC provides networking opportunities for veteran-owned businesses to connect with other veteran-owned businesses and supplier diversity managers.
NVBDC also works to educate the public about the contributions of veteran-owned businesses, and to advocate for policies that support service disabled and veteran-owned businesses. In fact, NVDBC is considered to be the source of support and resources for veteran-owned businesses.
NVBDC is a testament to the dedication and commitment of Vietnam War veterans, and to the entrepreneurial spirit of our nation’s veterans. As we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, we should take a moment to recognize the invaluable contributions of the “9 million Americans who earned the title of United States veteran”.
