We are proud to spotlight a tremendous achievement by Steven Rogers, U.S. veteran and founder of Wisconsin Drink LLC, a NVBDC Certified Veteran-Owned Business based in Curtiss, Wisconsin. Steven’s patriotic passion and entrepreneurial spirit recently earned him a coveted “Fast Pass” to the 2025 Walmart Open Call in Bentonville, Arkansas—putting his product on the national stage and one step closer to being stocked on Walmart shelves.
At a recent Walmart Road to Open Call pitch event hosted in Columbus, Ohio, Steven presented his mock-tails, a line of alcohol-free beverages branded with messaging that honors veterans. His veteran-owned story and mission-driven branding stood out among 27 other small businesses, securing him a direct invitation to pitch again at Walmart’s main Open Call this October.
“Walmart is committed to supporting the success of small businesses, and events like the Road to Open Call play a pivotal role,” said Mark Espinoza, Senior Director of Public Affairs at Walmart. “Through collaborations with organizations like the Columbus Chamber, we create opportunities for entrepreneurs to connect directly with Walmart.”
Steven’s company, Wisconsin Drink LLC, is a shining example of the impact that NVBDC certification can have on a veteran-owned business. Since becoming certified by NVBDC, Steven has gained access to real supplier diversity opportunities within a $122 billion corporate procurement marketplace. His connection to Walmart—one of NVBDC’s most engaged corporate members—was made possible through this certification.
Notably, Walmart is more than just a supporter—it’s a strategic ally in empowering veterans. As a proud NVBDC Corporate Member, Walmart has provided dedicated funding to cover the cost of NVBDC certification for eligible veteran-owned businesses. This initiative removes financial barriers and helps more veterans like Steven access major corporate supply chains.
