The National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC) Services Committee, led by Board Member and Services Committee Director John Taylor, is proud to host a landmark webinar in partnership with the United Nations. This event, titled “How to Do Business with the United Nations,” is designed to give certified veteran-owned businesses a direct line to international contracting opportunities.
For veteran entrepreneurs, global supply chains can feel out of reach. The United Nations, however, spends billions of dollars each year on goods and services — and NVBDC is working to ensure that our certified businesses are positioned to compete for these opportunities. This webinar is a rare chance to hear directly from UN procurement leaders on how to register, navigate, and win contracts within this international system.
We are honored to welcome two distinguished speakers from the United Nations:
- Mika Kitagami, Chief of Vendor Registration & Outreach, UN Enabling and Outreach Service, Office of Supply Chain Management. With decades of experience in procurement and vendor management across multiple UN divisions, Ms. Kitagami brings invaluable knowledge on the registration process and how companies can successfully enter the UN vendor pool.
- David Costello, Team Leader of the Vehicles Team, UN Procurement Division. Overseeing global procurement for vehicles and related equipment, Mr. Costello has more than 18 years of experience supporting UN operations worldwide. His perspective will help veteran-owned businesses understand how large-scale contracts are structured and managed.
This webinar represents more than just an educational session, it reinforces NVBDC’s global mission to open doors for veteran-owned businesses. By engaging directly with the United Nations, participants will:
- Learn the step-by-step process of becoming a UN vendor.
- Understand the structure of international procurement and identify opportunities to compete.
- Hear insights on categories that align with veteran-owned business capabilities.
- Position their companies to expand globally with the backing of NVBDC.
Building on NVBDC’s Global Partnerships
This event also builds on NVBDC’s growing network of global strategic partnerships and relationships. Through collaborations with the International Trade Administration (ITA), the U.S. Export-Import Bank (EXIM), the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and the Global Chamber, NVBDC has already created pathways for veteran businesses to engage internationally. Partnering with the United Nations further expands those opportunities, ensuring certified veteran-owned businesses can thrive on a global stage.
