The National Veterans Business Development Council (NVBDC) celebrates today the addition of our latest corporate member, Ernst & Young LLP (EY). The NVBDC is the leading third-party certification organization working to provide opportunities and access for Service Disabled and Veteran Owned Businesses (SD/VOBs).

The NVBDC was created for the purpose of providing a credible and reliable certifying authority that would confirm that valid documentation exists of a business’ Veteran ownership and control. Many lucrative businesses opportunities are available to veteran-owned businesses through the supplier diversity programs offered at many companies and government agencies. In fact, the total spend available to qualifying businesses is estimated to be in excess of $80 billion annually.

“Our relationship with EY helps provide veteran business owners an opportunity to be a part of an inclusive and diverse supply chain,” says Keith King, President of NVBDC. “Certification opens doors for our SD/VOBs and we’re proud to have EY recognize us as a certification organization and to have them on board as a member.”

Through certification, veteran business owners have access to supplier diversity programs and economic growth. As a global organization, the EY organization is at the forefront with its supplier diversity strategy and is engaged in seeking collaborations with veteran business owners.

“EY is committed to maintaining a diverse supplier base and building relationships with suppliers that reflect the market, clients and the communities we serve,” says Rosemary D. Weppler, EY Global Diversity & Inclusiveness Procurement Manager. “EY is excited to join the National Veteran Business Development Council to expand our Diversity & Inclusiveness procurement efforts by helping to identify, develop and increase business with certified veteran-owned businesses.”

To date, over 100 corporations who support the NVBDC in certifying SD/VOBs include some of the largest corporations in North America and Globally as well as the member corporations of the Billion Dollar Roundtable.
