In 1969, a group of women Soldiers formed the Army Women’s Foundation to preserve and honor their service as members of the Army Women’s Corps. Led by Veterans, the U.S. Army Women’s Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer organization headquartered in Fort Gregg Adams, Virginia. The mission is to promote public interest in the U.S. Army and recognize and honor the service of all U.S. Army women, past and present. The Foundation works to accomplish this mission by honoring, empowering, and connecting today’s Army women and Veterans through professional programs, scholarships, and being a dynamic advocate for telling their stories.
Foundation Programs
Scholarships
The U.S. Army Women’s Foundation works to shape the future and empower Army women to achieve their academic and career goals through our Scholarship Programs. The Legacy Scholarship Program provides scholarships to Army women, past and present, and their lineal descendants. The Trident University International Scholarship Program provides six full-ride Undergraduate scholarships and six full-ride Graduate scholarships annually to Women Soldiers, past and present.
Hall of Fame Awards
The foundation honors the service and sacrifices of U.S. Army women through our annual Hall of Fame and Champion Awards program. Hall of Fame awards are presented to women who have contributed extraordinary service to the Army or the Armed Forces, and our Champion Awards are presented to any individual who has made exceptional contributions to women in the Army or the Armed Forces.
Leader Development
Through annual Leader Development Programs, the foundation provides opportunities for Army women to network, connect, and to hear from experts in defense policy, Veteran benefits, health and social issues that affect women soldiers, and civilian workforce opportunities. Army Women’s Foundation also preserves and disseminates the stories of Army women through documentary screenings and panel discussions.
Outreach
The foundation reaches out to its supporters regularly – through daily communications via Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and a monthly eNewsletter, The Flagpole. We also partner with the Female Mentoring and Morale Program (FMMP) offering free mentoring and support through monthly virtual programs. The FMMP provides mentorship, personal and professional development, and fellowship to commissioned, warrant officers and NCOs Army-wide with a focus on strengthening the military female population through coaching, mentoring, and networking sessions and engagement. In addition, a Speakers Bureau offers community groups the opportunity to learn about the U.S. Army and soldiers from the women who have served.
