Sid E. Taylor

Mr. Taylor is a United States Marine and Vietnam combat veteran. He has over 48 (Forty-Eight) years of service in the Automotive Industry.

Following a 22-year career with General Motors, in 1989, Sid Taylor founded SET Enterprises, Inc., which,through his dynamic leadership, grew into the 8th largest African American owned company in the United States with revenues exceeding $500 million.

An industry leader in Metal Processing Services, SET Enterprises, Inc.expanded to six locations following its acquisition of Noble Metal Forming and Noble Metal Processing-Midwest in 2001, and Michigan Steel Processing in 2003 which expanded the company’s wide range of metal processing services to four states servicing customers that include Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, General Motors, Honda, Nissan, and FCA to name a few. 

Built on quality, service and innovation,SET Enterprisesattained Q1 status from Ford Motor Company, ISO 9002, QS 9000 and TS 16949 certification and received The Ford Motor Company’s World Excellence Award. As a supplier to Daimler Chrysler, SET Enterprises received the coveted Gold Awards for 2001, 2002 and 2004.

Outside of his numerous public and private commitments, Mr. Taylor is a current board member on Detroit Police Chief James Craig’s Public Safety committee. 

He is also a member of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) steering committee is a current board member of Tougaloo College in Canton Mississippi.

The Former Chairman of the National Association of Black Automotive Suppliers Trade Association and the Scholarship Fund (NABAS), Mr. Taylor holds various other positions of leadership including serving on the boards of the National Veterans Business Development Council (NVBDC), the National Veterans Association, the Michigan Minority Business Development Council and Jackson State University. 

Mr. Taylor also served as the District manager of the Boy Scouts of America and is the current Chairman of Finance of Hope United Methodist Church.

Mr. Taylor holds an Honorary Doctorate from Madonna University, Studied – Business management General Motors Institute (GMI), Studied Business Administration – University Of Detroit, Executive Management completion Dartmouth College, Northwestern University, University of Pittsburgh and the University of Wisconsin.
