    Dr. Michelle Boone-Thornton, Ed.D., QMHP

Dr. Michelle Boone-Thornton, Ed.D., QMHP, is a nationally recognized educator, mental health strategist, author, speaker, and advocate for women’s empowerment and workplace equity. Known affectionately as “The Unmasking Guru,” she is the author of Transforming Your Reality: Removing the Mask and the forthcoming Lessons from the Mourners Bench: A Bench, A Bible, and a Praying Auntie, which explores generational healing through faith, reflection, and truth-telling.

With over two decades of experience in human services, behavioral health, and higher education, Dr. Boone-Thornton currently serves as Assistant Program Director and Assistant Professor at Regent University. She is a global educator, having presented and led initiatives in Kenya, Spain, the Bahamas, Indonesia, and across the U.S., where her work continues to influence students, helping professionals, faith-based practitioners, and high-impact leaders.

As a World Civility Ambassador, Dr. Boone-Thornton’s international work aligns with her stateside mission—to equip underserved communities with the tools, language, and frameworks necessary to restore emotional wellness, navigate generational trauma, and cultivate transformative leadership rooted in compassion, faith, and justice. Her global presence reflects a consistent commitment to inclusion, dignity, and culturally responsive healing wherever she serves.

Dr. Boone-Thornton is also a dynamic voice in national conversations on business, leadership, and mental health. Through regular podcast features with the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs (NANBPWC) and appearances on the Black Business Olympics, she amplifies the experiences of Black women entrepreneurs and corporate leaders. Her podcast segments—“Removing the Mask” and “Emotional Wellness Can’t Wait”—have helped normalize conversations around emotional trauma, invisible labor, and burnout in business spaces.

Her passion lies in equipping women—especially Black women—to confront external chaos with clarity and confidence. Whether helping a CEO reclaim her voice, guiding a trauma survivor through spiritual healing, or training a new counselor to lead with cultural humility, Dr. Boone-Thornton’s work is rooted in truth, transformation, and transparency.

In this workbook, Dr. Boone-Thornton offers Navigating the Storm: When the Outside World Comes In, a deep exploration of how external environments—especially workplace systems—disempower women, and how we can reclaim our agency, peace, and leadership.

“The storm is real—but so is your power. You weren’t born to carry the chaos. You were born to shift it.”
    —Dr. Michelle Boone-Thornton

Book Link: Operating in Chaos: A Black Woman’s Guide to Managing External and Internal Chaos: Amazon.co.uk: Boone-Thornton, Dr. Michelle, Hood, Dr. Debbie, Stewart, Dr. Marcia: 9781966979067: Books

What if chaos wasn’t something to fear… but a space where transformation begins?

We’re all trying to survive something: information overload, emotional exhaustion, unpredictable work demands, broken systems, and personal storms that hit without warning. Operating in Chaos isn’t just a workbook; it’s a wake-up call and a lifeline for anyone ready to stop spiraling and start operating with clarity, control, and courage.

Inside, you’ll find the framework for what so many of us were never taught: how to navigate the chaos around us and within us, without losing ourselves in the process.

    • Dr. Michelle Boone-Thornton opens the journey with a powerful Introduction and External Chaos chapter, unpacking the pressures we face from society, systems, relationships, the workplace, and circumstances we can’t always control.
    • Dr. Debbie Hood guides readers inward in Internal Chaos, confronting the silent battles of fear, anxiety, identity, burnout, and emotional fatigue.
    • Dr. Marcia Stewart brings the healing full circle in Managing Internal and External Chaos, offering practical tools to regain your footing, reset your priorities, and rise with intention.

Designed for individuals and groups, including churches, universities, sororities, businesses, workplaces, and community organizations, this workbook stands alone or pairs with our live workshops and podcast series, providing the support, structure, and spiritual insight needed to do more than just “get through it.”

This is not another book full of theory.
It’s a hands-on guide to help you stand tall in the storm and lead others through it, too.

You don’t have to wait for the chaos to stop.
You just have to learn how to operate in it.
